FC Sussargues Joins Montpellier FC’s Network of Women’s Amateur Football Clubs
FC Sussargues has joined the “Occitanie Network of Women’s Amateur Football Clubs” and officially become a partner club of Montpellier FC.
Since the start of the season, Montpellier FC has continued to establish partnerships with amateur clubs across the region. This initiative reflects a clear ambition: to build a strong network around women’s football and strengthen ties with the clubs contributing to its growth.
Before FC Sussargues Bérange, several clubs had already joined the initiative: FC Arceaux Montpellier, FC Pas du Loup, PIV Vendargues, Entente Perrier Vergèze, Union Sportive Villeneuvoise, Gallia Club Lunel and Castelnau Le Crès Football Club.
A Strong Commitment to Women’s Football
Located on the border between the Hérault and Gard departments, FC Sussargues has been building a well-established women’s section for nearly 20 years. Today, the club has more than 140 female players registered, across all-female teams ranging from the U5F age group to the senior team.
From recreational football to competitive play, players have access to a pathway suited to their ambitions, with teams competing at levels up to Regional 1 and district level, in both 8-a-side and 11-a-side football.
Having continuously held the FFF Silver Label since 2016, the club reached a new milestone in 2024 by earning the FFF Gold Label for a three-year period. This distinction recognises the quality of its sporting, educational and player development programmes.
A Shared Ambition
This partnership has a common goal: to strengthen the ties between professional and amateur football and work together to raise the profile of women’s football across the region.
A Signing Ceremony Bringing Club Representatives Together
The signing ceremony was attended by Pascal Lefevre, the club’s president; Dereck Verzal and Nicolas Enjalric, sporting coordinators and coaches of the U18F and U13F teams; Marion Chabanis, captain of the senior women’s team; and Matthieu Mengual, a member of the women’s football committee and club official.
Their collective presence reflects the club’s commitment to promoting and developing women’s football.
Welcome to FC Sussargues Bérange as part of this network, and congratulations to everyone at the club for their dedication to women’s football!
